Don't burn through your own stamina throwing wild combos; landing fewer, better-timed punches and kicks keeps you in better shape for the later part of a round. In 2 Player Mode, mix up your Funny Mode combinations between matches to keep things fresh, but remember the underlying defend-and-strike timing matters more than any modifier.
